There are so many beautiful and impressive masterpieces, which makes choosing a masterpiece quite a challenge. How do you choose a Masterpiece that really suits you and your interior, now and in the future?

Maybe you already have a preference for a certain painter or theme. But if you don't have an idea yet, we recommend you take a good look at the colours in your interior. It is often nice to choose a painting that fits within the same colour palette.

If you are planning to give your interior a makeover, you can of course also choose to match the colours in your interior to your Muurmeester.
And if you really cannot choose, the paintings are interchangeable. This way, you can buy several Masterpieces and match them to the season or the holidays, for example.

Muurmeesters are available in various formats. Because we like to respect the proportions of the original Old Masters, the dimensions of the Muurmeesters may vary.

Tip: Use painter's tape to mark out the format you have in mind on your wall, in order to determine which format best suits your interior design.

With a Muurmeester you will make a great and impressive statement on your wall - so dare to choose a size larger.
Often, people choose a size smaller for safety reasons. However, the 'less is more' principle does not apply here. We know from experience that a larger size on the wall often looks much nicer.

To give you a better idea, below we show 3 average sizes of Muurmeesters in relation to a 3-seater sofa of 210cm width.

You want something different and impressive on your wall: an imposing Muurmeester. Although it will certainly not look out of place above your sofa or behind your table, you may want to give this masterpiece more of a stage.

Consider for instance to hang your Muurmeester out of the center of your wall, to go for a playful touch. Also, this way your will have enough space to put up other decoration

A Muurmeester can be delivered in a black, gold or aluminium-coloured frame. The frame itself is mainly visible from the side and only shows a thin edge at the front. The thickness of the frame is 27 mm. The colours black and aluminium are neutral and do the Masterpieces justice. Aluminium looks the most neutral and will slightly fade away on a white wall. Black will give the Masterpiece more 'body' and a golden frame gives a slightly hipper look.

The choice of a colour is very personal and will also depend on your current interior. Let the images below inspire you to compare the colours and make the right choice.

Wall brackets are included with your Muurmeester to attach the frame to the wall.

Of course, you can also hang up your Muurmeester in other ways. Sometimes a Muurmeester is hung on a rail system, which is possible. It is important to make sure that you use a hook which fits into the recess of the Muurmeester frame. We do not recommend the use of acoustic material for a Muurmeester which is hung on a rail system, because in this way the wall-master cannot be mounted tightly on the wall and the acoustic panel cannot always be kept in place.

The number of hooks you use depends on the size of your Muurmeester and the type of wall. For sizes wider than 120 cm, we recommend to use 2 hooks on top. Do you want to mount your Muurmeester completely straight on the wall? Then you can mount 1 or 2 hooks at the bottom of the frame.
When using acoustic panels, we recommend that you also use 1 or 2 hooks on the bottom.

Muurmeesters are paintings by old masters, reissued in a modern system. At Muurmeesters we have great respect for the old masters and therefore we want to keep the images as close to the original as possible. Sometimes this can mean that the old master is painted a little dark. We recommend that you give the old masters a good spotlight, as this will make the image stand out even more. This is especially beautiful in dark interiors. Also consider lighting from an angle. In Johannes Vermeer's Melkmeisje for example, the light coming from the top left is wonderful!
