THE PAINTING DONKEY RIDING ALONG THE BEACH - 1898/1901
Original: oil on canvas W 70 x H 51
Isaac Israëls was struck by the summery atmosphere at the beach, such as the summer breeze, the light and riding a donkey, which was popular with the well-to-do around 1900. This is how Isaac made this painting of three daughters of people he knew. They are Agatha Pauw with her little sister and Suze Pont, who is accompanied by the donkey boy. Here too, the impressionist style is evident in the loose manner of painting.
