The painting shows the remains of a small meal. A beautiful illuminated nautilus cup, damask napkins, pewter plates with remnants of an oyster, an oil can and a kind of long vase.
Willem worked very realistically, often using grey-green and silver colours. His still lifes were often called "breakfast" or "banquet".
