The painting was made in the first part of the 17th century by master painter Adam van Breen. Adam painted a company in good spirits with a windmill and a haystack in the background. Various sports of the time, such as ice-sailing, are also depicted and, of course, swinging on the ice. Adam was known for his winter landscapes.
