Pierre Gobert

THE PAINTER PIERRE GOBERT, 1662 - 1744
Pierre Gobert was born in Fontainebleau, France, the son of sculptor Jean II Gobert.
In 1701, he was admitted as a full member of the Académie Royale. In 1704, Pierre sent portraits of members of the royal family to the Salon.
He was much loved at court and Marie Adélaïde, Louis XV's mother, was portrayed by him more than once.
